Mindwhirl opened its doors in 1998 because the dot bomb bankrupted the web development firm we worked for. At that time, we had what Michael Gerber calls an Entrepreneurial seizure. We knew everything there was to know about developing websites. We had no idea how to run a business that develops websites.

So we did what every business does. We looked at our competitors and copied what they were doing. We looked at their client list and went after them too. We found out what they were charging and charged that too. We decided that the way we would set ourselves apart was through superior customer service and superior workmanship. Can you see the problem?

We were doing it wrong!

When the Trade Center Towers fell, Michael Miller, CEO of Mindwhirl, had an epiphany. He knew the world was about to change and nothing would ever be the same again.

Michael went to work learning everything he could put his hands on about business, leadership, motivation and marketing.

Create Desire, Get Hit

Michael used everything he learned and re-branded Mindwhirl as an Interactive Marketing Company focused on using emotion to sell our clients products and services. We realized that we had to create desire in the marketplace and get them to the website to be educated.

The results were fantastic when we implemented the campaign from start to finish. However, we lacked the courage to force all of our clients to let us control the campaign. We thought we would go broke.

This was a valuable lesson!

Business requires intestinal fortitude

Dan Kennedy, one of the greatest copywriters and direct marketers in the world said, “the wise man at the bottom of the mountain has one or two students, but the wise man at the top of the mountain has hundreds of people hiking, crawling, clawing, and scratching to get to the top of the mountain to ask him a question to hopefully get an answer if it pleases him to respond.”

Michael took everything that he had learned about Business and Marketing and created the Mindwhirl Marketing System in order to properly consult and guide his clients through the proper way to create and implement a Marketing Plan.

To be successful, everything needs a plan ( goal, vision, map )

Most businesses operate without a marketing plan. This may not be a kiss of death, but it is proof positive that your company will not grow large or be very profitable. Without a proper Marketing Plan, you won’t know how to get a customer and you won’t know why a prospect should buy from you.

Some people look at a marketing plan as a list of tasks that you should perform. This is not only overly simplistic, you will most likely find the marketing tasks don’t work.
